The Year in Review: 2023

And the tradition continues another year! Presenting my 2023 Year in Review:

Instead of taking a week to work on this year’s zine, I committed to finishing the background collage in one day; in part because I usually need speeding along in decisions, but also because my fiancé Jonathon finished his within an hour.

Jonathon took a minimalist approach in content and design, selecting only three top picks for each category, while I took a maximalist one, adding three more categories to my zine this year. I gave movies its own section because I watched more, and I added food and experiences with loved ones, as I needed to include being proposed to on my 30th birthday!!

All of the illustrations in my zine are from an old children’s book about a pet monkey. The grey and pink marbled paper is protective paper that surrounded a planter from Putnam Studio, and the other colorful papers were cut from gel prints made with acrylic paint.
