Before the Tide & After the Earth

These quilts started out as paper weavings, made several months after the death of my grandma, the woman in the photographs. The actual quilts, however, weren’t finished until three years later, as the process of creating them ebbed and flowed with my grief. Sewn on my grandma’s sewing machine, and completed with the help of my mom, Before the Tide and After the Earth are a remembrance of my joyful, resilient, and creative Grandma.
